World Records Day

Thousands of people across the globe are trying to produce a world's best on Guinness World Records Day.

Some 6,000 people are gathering in Paris to try and register the largest simultaneous kiss, while 2,000 Canadians are trying to form the world's longest can-can line in Toronto.

In London, two pairs of women will attempt a new record for the most 'ballet leg switches' , a synchronised swimming manoeuvre, in one minute.

Edd China, 35, from Maidenhead, Berkshire is to take a four-wheeled office, which can achieve speeds up to 87mph, across Westminster Bridge.

He is attempting a record for 'fastest office in the UK' after already holding several records for the 'fastest furniture in the world' .

New record for the fastest time to put together a Bedlam cube puzzle will be attempted at Hamley's toy shop.

Attempt to break the record for karate chopping concrete blocks, in Norway, unfortunately met with failure.

Other events are taking place in Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong, South Africa, New Zealand, the US, Singapore, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Italy, and Germany.

Craig Glenday, editor of Guinness World Records, said: "It's clear that being a record breaker is more popular than ever and Guinness World Records Day is our way of acknowledging this testament to people's desire to achieve."
